Delete your account
1. In the app
Open the "You" tab, tap "Delete account" and confirm. The deletion begins at once and cannot be undone; there is no waiting period, no grace period and no way to get the account back.
2. What is deleted
Everything hanging from your account, in one step and for good:
- your days with their daily total, time zone and source,
- your per-app times,
- your friendships, friend requests and blocks,
- your group memberships and invitations,
- your limits, breaches and the periods you kept to,
- your chats with every message you wrote,
- the push addresses of your phones,
- your sessions, that is every sign-in on every device,
- your profile photo,
- if you signed in with Apple, the token that lets us withdraw Screenshame's access to your Apple ID, which we then use to withdraw it at Apple.
A message another person has already read, and a notification Apple or Google has already delivered, we cannot take back. A group you created stays in place for its remaining members.
3. What remains
Lines of the security log remain, for example about a failed sign-in or a report. After the deletion they name nobody: the account identifier is removed from them, and app names were never in them. And if somebody had blocked you, we keep for that person, for at most twelve months, a keyed hash of the identifier Apple or Google knows you by: it cannot be turned back into that identifier, and serves only to make their block apply again if you sign up once more with the same Apple or Google account.
4. Without the app, by email
You do not need the app to delete your account. Write to us from the email address of your Apple or Google sign-in at contact@milewise.de and ask for the deletion. We delete the account once we have established that it is yours.
Apple often hides your email address behind a relay, and then we do not know it. In that case we ask you for your username, so that we can find the account.
5. Deleting the app is not enough
If you only remove Screenshame from your phone, your account stays on the server with everything hanging from it. Delete it by one of the two routes above.
6. Deleting only a part
Without deleting the account, you can remove your profile photo in the app, remove friends (which takes your past days from the other side as well), leave groups and delete your own messages. There is no other partial deletion. What further rights you have is in section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
